Pre-Meal for May 14, 2025The Meaning in the Mundane
Happy Wednesday,
I recently had the pleasure of doing a fireside chat at a virtual offsite for the incredible team at Lululemon. And the moment that stuck most with me happened not during my talk, or the lively conversation afterward, but in a five-minute break between sessions.
Rather than letting the pause slip by, our host invited everyone to turn their cameras on and join a dance party. As the first notes of ‘Lil Boo Thang’ by Paul Russell hit, colleagues from all over the world, solo or with their teams, got up and started grooving in their respective squares. Cubicles and conference rooms and home offices became dance floors, as everyone attending that meeting — many of whom had never met — connected through the sheer joy of movement.
It was unexpected. It was silly. It was less than five minutes long, and it was unforgettable. It reminded everyone that we’re not just heads in boxes; we’re humans craving community and connection, even in the in-between.
Most people see moments like a break between Zoom sessions as filler — throwaway time. But with a little creativity and a lot of intention, those moments can become magic. How will you find a way to make the mundane meaningful this week?
Have a good service,
Will
